Author Bio
I grew up in South Carolina. I played baseball through high school and football through college. I went to medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. I trained in adult psychiatry at the Hall Institute which is part of the University of South Carolina system. I served as assistant chief resident and chief resident during my time at Hall Institute. I did my child and adolescent psychiatry training at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio (I know, ridiculously long name–imagine all the forms I’ve had to write that on). After that I practiced in several areas to include the following: inner city psychiatry, schools, community psychiatry, and private practice. In the course of my training, I’ve also had a lot of exposure to prison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and state mental hospitals/institutional psychiatry.
Four years ago, I left psychiatry to stay home with my three kids. I often think it would be nice to go back to work so I can get some rest.
I’ve been writing for about fifteen years. Most of my work has been fantasy or suspense fiction with the exception of the book that led to this blog.
Thanks for visiting.
